Thinking Breakfast

Caitlin Maher • January 30, 2024

I often talk about my “thinking breakfasts” and in this video, I explain why I do them, the process I’ve honed, the things I do in them and what happens when I don’t.

In particular, I talk about:

πŸ—“οΈ how I started them as my New Years Resolution in 2021.

⏳ how I have “found” the time for them every day

πŸ€”the discipline I need to have so that I use them for “Deep Work” (a book recommended to me by
Deirdre Lyons) and the “important and not urgent” work on the Eisenhower matrix

βœ… the things I think about including sales proposals, presentations, new ideas and conversations (eg a recent one with
Maria Cronin about diversity and inclusion initiatives for young people)

πŸ“² when I do and don’t use my phone

πŸ™‡‍♀️how I use “
Rocky.ai” to help me when I don’t have anything or too much to think about

β˜•οΈ how I sometimes have them with other people (eg
Carol Glynn FCA this morning at Brunch & Cake in hashtag

#Dubai) and sometimes people ask me to think for them

πŸ•³οΈ the deficit that happens when I don’t do this

πŸ“ˆ how this is an example of an “Atomic Habit” (a book by
James Clear)

πŸ“ why I always write on a napkin

I hope this is of use to you too.
